First and
foremost, thanks to everyone who volunteered their energy and
time to making GLOW 2006 the incredible event
that
it is.
Thanks
also to all those who attended and participated.
However, events transpired during the second night of
GLOW that are being addressed as follows.
The Sheriffs Office of Pinal County has called a public
forum (click here to see photos from
the forum held September 14) to allow people to air grievances
in response to the unprofessional and aggressive behavior of the officer's
at the harmonious GLOW art gathering on Saturday evening. It has been
assured that their intention is to hear from the community, admit
their wrongdoing and to apologize to the citizens. We are
in
agreement that GLOW will continue in the future with full support
of the authorities. We want to work together to achieve a positive
outcome for the event and the community. There has been assurance
the incident will be fully investigated and that internal actions
be taken. I believe it is important that the truth be told. Sheriff
Chris Vasquez will be in attendance. Please come share your experiences
and read the statements regarding the events that transpired.

Call for information
Pinal County Sheriff
Chris Vasquez has ordered a formal administrative investigation
(Internal Affairs) into this matter. Case number P.S. 2006-077
has been generated. Myself and Sergeant Phil LeBlanc, of the
PCSO Professional Standards Unit, have been assigned to investigate
allegations of misconduct and policy violations by PCSO staff members.
With this in mind, we are making every attempt to ascertain
as much first-hand knowledge as possible from offended parties and/or
witnesses of actions at the Glow festival on Saturday, September
9, 2006. We are especially interested in copies of photographs
or video of PCSO staff members on scene.
